| Kate Sheppard's Midwife Profiles Janet Lovegrove Judith Obery Jan Baker Lorraine Cook Kathy O'Keefe Tracy Bishara Carey Aburn Deborah Doherty | | Janet Lovegrove My name is Janet Lovegrove. I am lucky enough to be the mother of two wonderful sons who are in their late teens. It has been an amazing journey negotiating the different stages of their lives. While I'm not working I enjoy long walks on the beach, music, reading and have been lucky enough to see some interesting places in the world. I trained in South Africa as a general nurse and midwife about twenty years ago and have subsequently done a degree in health service management, occupational health and community health. Midwifery was always my passion since my first day in labour ward. The miracle of new life has never ceased to amaze me and I feel incredibly privileged to be part of this very special time in the lives of the women I have worked with over the years. I have practised as a midwife for most of my career. For a short while IO worked as a practice nurse. When I arrived in New Zealand I worked as a midwife and then a midwife consultant at North Shore Hospital before setting up Kate Sheppard. | | back to top
Judith Obery My name is Judith Obery and I have been a registered general nurse for 33 years. Prior to working for Kate Sheppard Midwifery I worked at National Womens Hospital where I gained valuable experience in Obstetrics and was able to qualify for my Diploma in Midwifery in 1994. The most enjoyable part of being a midwife is being able to give support and encouragement to women and their families/whanau at such a special time in their lives. My aims are to provide a safe outcome in an environment of trust and respect. I am very family oriented person and when I am not working as a midwife I am a wife, mother and grandmother to my husband, three children and four grandchildren.

Lorraine Cook Hi my name is Lorraine and I am proud to be a Kate Sheppard midwife. I firmly believe in the midwifery partnership with women during their pregnancy and labour and I am an advocate for a woman's right to choose the type of care she wants. I have a passion for my job and I feel a real empathy for women during this special time in their lives. I am married with 3 children and enjoy reading and spending time at the beach. I trained through AUT in the 1990's and joined Kate Sheppard in 2000.
